Description
The farm buildings located approximately 90 metres east of Woodhouse Farmhouse date from around 1840, although they may have earlier origins. Constructed from limestone rubble and red brick in English garden wall bond, the buildings feature a shepherd's hut made of red brick, with red brick piers and buttresses, and a pantile roof. The structure is an L-shaped range of open-fronted shelters, with the shepherd's hut positioned at the right end. The hut consists of a single room that opens into the shelters but lacks a door, and it has a 2-light window at the front and an end stack. Inside the hut, there is a plain brick fireplace. These buildings are noted for being a unique survival of a rare type of experimental farm buildings in the area, making them of significant interest in the history of agriculture.
