Description
Forge House is a late 18th-century building that includes an attached forge and stables. The house is constructed from herringbone-tooled sandstone ashlar and features French tiles on the roof, while the outbuildings are made of hammer-dressed sandstone rubble with pantiles. The house has a central entrance, with stables on the left and the forge on the right. It is two storeys high and has three bays, while the outbuildings are single-storey. The house features steps leading up to a six-fielded-panel door with an overlight, and it has casement windows throughout. There is a stepped eaves course and stacks at both ends. The stables have two stable doors and sprocketed eaves, while the forge has a wide board door with a three-light Yorkshire sash window to the right, along with stacks at the right end and rear. Inside the forge, there are two hearths with large brick-built flues, which were disused at the time of the resurvey.
