Description
Raisthorpe Manor is a house that consists of two sections, built in the mid to late 18th century and in 1867, as indicated by a datestone. The house features a central hallway entry with a later cross wing at the rear. The main structure is constructed from sandstone ashlar and limestone rubble, while the cross wing is made of brick, all topped with Welsh slate roofs. The building stands two storeys high and has three bays, with single-storey wings on either side.
The entrance includes a six-panel door with a radial fanlight, set within a dentilled door-case that has an open pediment. The left wing features a sash window with glazing bars, while the right wing has a boarded door. The roofs of both wings are hidden by plain ramped parapets, which have urns at the corners. The main house has sash windows with glazing bars beneath channelled wedge lintels, and it is adorned with a dentilled eaves course, gable coping, and end stacks.
Inside, there is an open-string staircase with slender turned balusters and a ramped handrail, along with six-fielded-panel doors leading to the principal rooms. The roof of the building was completely rebuilt following a severe fire in the 1970s.
