Description
Round the Bend is a house located on Main Street in Thixendale, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with 19th-century additions at either end. The building is constructed of whitewashed rubble, with the front featuring hammer-dressed stone, and it has a pantile roof. It is a two-cell structure with a former direct entry and is single storey with attics. The facade includes three 4-pane sash windows and two casement dormers, along with end stacks. The rear of the house has a rounded corner. Inside, there is one massive cross beam that survives in the center of the house, although the roof structure is not visible. The ceiling was inserted in the 19th century, and the 19th-century additions are not considered of special interest.
