Description
The Old Vicarage is a house built around 1874 by the architect G E Street for Sir Tatton Sykes. It is constructed of brick in English bond with ashlar dressings and has a plain tile roof, showcasing a Jacobethan style. The building features a central entry flanked by a pair of cross wings at the rear. It has two storeys and one first-floor window. The recessed porch has a pointed arch that contains a board door set in a glazed surround. To the left of the porch is a single-light window, while to the right is a three-light mullion window beneath a relieving arch. There is a first-floor band, and a half-dormer in a gablet on the first floor, along with gable coping and decorative ridge tiles. Tall chimneys are located at the rear. The Old Vicarage is included for its group value.
