Description
The Hewgill chest tomb, located approximately 11 metres south of the southeast corner of the Church of St Patrick, dates from around 1811. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features fluted corner pilasters. The longer sides of the tomb have panels that include central paterae within quatrefoils set within octagons, separated by fluted pilasters. The end panels are wavy-edged. The moulded lid has a well-cut inscription commemorating William Hewgill, who died in 1811.
