Description
Thorpe Hill Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located off Thorpe Green Lane in Thorpe Underwoods. It is constructed of mottled plum brick and features a stone slate roof. The building has a central-entry plan and is two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window front. The front door, which is a 20th-century panelled design, is located beneath a divided overlight. The ground and first floor windows are 16-pane sashes, while in the attic, the central window is blocked and flanked by squat 12-pane sashes. All windows have painted stone sills, and the openings are topped with flat arches made of gauged bricks. There are raised bands at the first floor and attic levels, along with a brick dentilled eaves band. The roof is pyramidal with a truncated apex stack, and there are stacks rising through the roof pitch on both the left and right sides. At the rear, there is a round-headed staircase window with radial glazing, a painted stone sill, and an archivolt. The returns of the building have several blocked window openings, with openings under cambered arches on the right return. There is a porch extension on the left return, but it is not of special interest.
