Description

Kirby Hall Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse with later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of orange-red brick in English bond, with a stone slate roof. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, featuring a projecting central bay with a single window, flanked by two-storey wings, each with a single window. The main entrance is located in the right return of the right wing. The central bay has a two-storey round-arched recess with an impost band. The windows are replacements with three lights and small panes, featuring segmental arches on the ground and attic floors. The windows in the wings are also small-pane casements; the impost band from the central bay extends to the first floor level of the wings. A brick dentil eaves band runs across the entire front. The central and rear ridge stacks are located on the centre roof, which is hipped at the front. The wing roofs are also hipped. The right return features a full-height round-arched recess. A part-glazed, four-panel door is situated beneath a divided overlight, to the left of a canted bay window with four-pane sashes. A first floor band is positioned above the bay window, along with the dentil eaves band.
