Description
Low Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid-19th century, though it has earlier origins. It features orange-red brick in a loose English garden wall bond, with sandstone ashlar surrounds for the windows and doors, and a pantile roof. The layout includes a central entry plan, a service wing, and an outbuilding in line with the main structure.
The main front is two stories high with three windows, while the left wing is one and a half stories with one window, and the outbuilding to the left is one story. A 20th-century board door is set beneath a two-centred arch within a double-chamfered, square-headed surround. The windows are mullioned and transomed, with two lights above the door and four lights elsewhere. The service wing has two-light windows on the ground floor and in the gable end. The outbuilding features mullioned windows, with two lights at the front and three lights in the gable end. The mullions are hollow-chamfered. All gables are coped and have double cyma moulded kneelers. The main roof has stacks at the left end and left and right of centre. At the rear, the windows have flat arches made of gauged brick.
