Description
Helks House is a house built in the early 19th century, with an addition made in 1844. It is constructed of ashlar and coursed rubble, featuring ashlar dressings. The slate roof has ashlar coped gables with kneelers and two gable stacks. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central round-headed doorway is framed by raised quoins and features a six-panel door with a fanlight. On either side of the doorway are single glazing bar sashes topped with Tudor hood moulds. Above, there are three more glazing bar sashes, also with Tudor hood moulds. The rear facade includes a later projecting porch that is inscribed with the year 1844. Inside, there is a stick baluster staircase, plain stone fireplaces, and raised and fielded panel shutters.
