Description

Home Farmhouse is a 17th century farmhouse, dated 1676, situated in Fountains Earth, near Lofthouse. The building is constructed from coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and has a graduated stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and originally comprised four bays, with a three-cell lobby-entrance plan. Quoins are present. A single-storey outshut porch with a half-glazed door is located to the right return, with a 20th century glazed doorway to its left. The right-hand bay features a four-light chamfered mullioned window, and to its left, a similar window of five lights, both set under a continuous hoodmould. The first floor has a three-light chamfered mullioned window to the right, a similar four-light window to its left, and a single-light window further to the left. A two-light chamfered mullioned window is in the left-hand bay. Stone copings are present along with end stacks and a stack to the ridge, all corniced with plinths. The rear of the building has a centrally positioned, blind, chamfered flat-arched stone doorway bearing the date "1676". The left return has two chamfered single-light windows set within the gable.
