Description
The boat-house, located on the west bank of the lake approximately 20 metres north of the restaurant, was likely built around 1730 for John Aislabie. It is constructed from gritstone and features two vaults that are accessed via a trap door in the path above. The lake front has two round arches, and the central wall that divides the shelters is covered by a thick growth of ivy. Although the interior has not been inspected, historical records indicate that boats were used on the lake, as depicted in a painting by B Nebot from around 1750. There is no available information regarding any superstructure.
