Description
Old Hall is a former house that has been converted into a garden store and garage. It likely dates from the 16th century, featuring timber framing that was encased in stone in the early 17th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and has a graduated stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has three bays. The central original board door is set beneath a triangular-shaped lintel, with chamfered jambs and straight-cut stops. On either side of the door are five-light recessed, chamfered mullioned windows that have leaded-light casements. A drip moulding runs at the first-floor level, stepping up over the door.
The first-floor windows mirror those on the ground floor, accompanied by a small square window flanked by lower, recessed blind panels above the door. There is a lateral stack located at the centre of the rear wall.
Inside, the building features timber posts and panelling in the partition walls and stairs. Some plasterwork remains in the upper room on the left. A photograph of the house in occupation can be found in H. Speight's book, "Kirkby Overblow and District," published in London in 1903.
