Description
Barrowby Grange is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a roof of graduated stone slate. The house originally comprised a two-bay range, with a two-bay wing at a right angle to the right, creating an L-shaped plan. A 20th-century board door, set within a plain stone surround and protected by a 20th-century battlemented porch, is located on the right side of the main range. To the left of the porch, and on the first floor, are four-light, double-chamfered mullioned windows with sash glazing. The wing to the right features three-light, flat-faced mullioned windows with sashes on both the ground and first floors, with a four-pane sash in a plain surround on the upper floor gable end. An ashlar coping is present. A stack is situated to the left, and a ridge stack is located at the centre of the wing. A door is positioned at first-floor level in the left gable, and the remains of an external stone stair are visible.
