Description
Low Snape Farm is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed, squared gritstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a two-unit baffle-entry plan and stands two storeys high with two bays. The exterior includes quoins and a 20th-century gabled porch with a panelled door at the centre, flanked by three-light, double-chamfered mullion windows. On the first floor, there is a blocked door on the left with a 20th-century window inserted, a two-light double-chamfered mullion window, a small square window above the porch, and another two-light double-chamfered mullion window on the right. All window lights have either two-pane casements or fixed lights. The roof features shaped kneelers and gable coping, with stacks at the gables and centre, the latter two being corniced. The rear facade has a lean-to against the western bay and includes two- and three-light mullion windows on the ground floor, with the three-light window being original, while the other windows throughout the house have stonework dating from the late 19th or 20th century. Inside, there is a large former open fireplace with a bressumer, which now contains a cooking range, located on the ground floor to the left.
