Description
Number 1 (Princess Terrace) and Number 5 (Princess Terrace) on North Road is a mid-19th century building constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and a pitched slate roof. The structure stands three storeys tall and features a balustrade with geometrical tracery. It has six bays, with the ground floor windows consisting of three-light stone mullioned sashes that have shouldered heads and cusped traceried panels above. The entrance features diagonally planked double doors with cusped two-centred heads, framed by gabled ashlar portals on crocketed consoles, which include shields in the tympana and ribbon ornamentation on either side. The first floor windows are two and three-light stone mullioned sashes with two-centred heads, pointed relieving arches, and hoodmoulds. The second floor mirrors this design above each door and is topped by coped gabled semi-dormers, with flat-topped semi-dormers featuring casements. The elevation facing North Road includes a ground floor canted bay.
