Description

The Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, which was re-roofed in the late 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble that has been brought to course, and it features a Welsh slate roof. The layout includes a central hallway entry, with a service wing on the right and a cross wing at the rear left. The house is two storeys high and has three bays in the main section, along with a lower single-bay service wing. The main house has quoins, a half-glazed door, and sash windows with glazing bars, except for an unequal 9-pane sash window on the first floor of the service wing. Keyed wedge lintels are present throughout, and the main house has an overhanging roof with corniced end and ridge stacks. Inside, there is a closed-string staircase featuring slender turned balusters. The building is included for its group value.
