Description
The drinking fountain and curved wall, located immediately east of the gate piers at the west end of Park Street in Hovingham, date from the late 18th century. Constructed from limestone ashlar, the curved wall defines a semicircular area and stands approximately 1.25 meters high. It features a central plaque with a crudely carved head, from which an outlet pipe forms the mouth at the center. The wall is coped and terminates in square-section buttresses that have attached Tuscan pilasters, each topped with ball finials.
