Description
This is a group of three chest tombs dating from the mid to late 18th century, located approximately 3 metres south of the priest's door of the Church of St Patrick in Patrick Brompton. They are made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb closest to the church is plain and features a well-cut inscription on its moulded lid, commemorating Richard Carter who died in 1767. The middle tomb has curved fluted corner pilasters and quatrefoil panels on the sides, with a well-cut inscription on its moulded lid commemorating John Carter who died in 1796. The tomb furthest from the church also has fluted corner pilasters and quatrefoil panels on the sides, with a well-cut inscription on its moulded lid commemorating Richard Carter who died in 1792.
