Description

This is a mid-to-late 19th century range of shops. It comprises three storeys and has dormers, with an irregular frontage of five windows and a splayed corner treatment. The building has a slated mansard roof with a bracketed eaves cornice and seven hipped dormers. The exterior is rusticated grit stone ashlar, with sill and floor strings. The windows are 2, 3, and 4-light, with transoms and mullions; a projecting 4-light oriel window is located at the north end of the first floor. The ground floor features four wide, segmental arched openings flanked by attached columns. The main entrance has a trefoil arched doorway. Cast iron balconies are present at the first floor level, supported by stone brackets. The building is included on the list for its group value in relation to numbers 21 to 33.
