Description
4 Cliff Street is a house built in the early 19th century, constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. It features a forecourt with a stone retaining wall at the front. The roof is hidden behind a stone-capped parapet, which has simple iron railings above it. The house has a canted two-storey bay with hornless sash windows, including a central window with eight panes over eight, flanked by side lights with four panes over four. This canted bay is shown on the 1852 Ordnance Survey town plan. To the right of the bay, there is a door with a rectangular overlight and a wedge lintel, which likely opens onto a through passage. Above this door, there is a blind window that also features a wedge lintel. Only the front elevation has been inspected, and the interior was not examined. The building is designated at Grade II due to its early 19th-century date, the craftsmanship evident in the brickwork, and its group value with other listed properties on Cliff Street.
