Description

Beech Grove is a house built in 1779, with further work undertaken in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared tooled stone and has a graduated Lakeland slate roof with stone copings, kneelers, and chimneys. The house is two storeys high and has one bay on the left and three bays on the right, the left bay being the later addition. The front features a six-panel door with an overlight, set within a stone surround of pilasters and an entablature. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set in wood architraves and with keystones. To the left is a stone canted bay window, featuring pilasters, an entablature, and a blocking course. The house has end gable copings and stacks. A widow keystone, dated 1779, is visible.
