Description
No. 49 High Street is a house and shop built in the later 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared tooled stone and features a Welsh slate roof with stone stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with two bays.
The left round-arched entrance contains a door made up of three panels, with a fanlight above. This entrance is flanked by part-reeded pilasters with leafy capitals. To the right, there is a double shop front with three round-arched lights and transoms on each side, which is supported by three additional similar pilasters and features a corniced fascia across the building.
On the first floor, there is a tripartite window and a canted oriel supported by console brackets, both fitted with sash windows. The building has a deep boarded eaves cornice and a fairly high-pitched roof that includes end chimneys and two pedimented dormers with side pilasters.
