Description
Jubilee Fountain is an ornamental fountain located in Escrick, specifically on the west side of Fountain View. It was erected by the inhabitants of Escrick and Deighton to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897, as inscribed around the rim, although the inscription has become weathered over time. The fountain is constructed of ashlar and features a stepped octagonal base that transitions to a circular plinth. Atop this plinth is a gadrooned urn with an upturned scallop shell on the outer rim. The fountain is crowned by a three-sided ornamental feature consisting of three open-mouthed, toothed dolphin-like fish, with their heads facing the rim and their tails intertwined. At the time of the re-survey, the fountain was disused.
