Description
This barn, located opposite Owl Cottage, is likely from the mid to late 18th century and incorporates a door lintel that is dated 1699. It is constructed from finely-laid gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The barn consists of three bays with an outshut along the south side. On the south side, there are double doors beneath the outshut, supported by a timber lintel. The north side has a narrow threshing door at the center, with chamfered quoined jambs and a lintel inscribed "A 1699 JRC," where the 9's are reversed. There are also pitching doors to the left and right, located under the eaves. On the right return, there is an owl hole beneath the apex of the gable, with a ledge and a row of pigeon holes below it, as well as three rows of vent holes, some of which are blocked. Inside, the barn features four queen-strut trusses.
