Description

The covered yard adjoining the cart shed at Beningbrough Home Farm dates from the mid to late 19th century and incorporates an earlier building. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond, with a Welsh slate roof on the western bay of the west range, while the rest of the roof is made of corrugated asbestos. The yard faces north and east and includes an earlier barn in the southwestern section.

On the north elevation, there are three gabled bays, with the outer bays canted and the left bay obscured by a later yard that is not of special interest. Each bay features panelled pilasters that define three giant round-arched panels. The central bay has a double door with a bracketed band and a round-arched boarded opening above it. The flanking panels each contain a blind round-arched recessed panel with a similar panel above on a bracketed band, and there are oculi at the apex. The left and right bays have a central round-arched door, decorative sunken crosses in black brick, and oculi in the apexes.

The east elevation also has three gabled bays, with the central bay being slightly taller and featuring offset buttresses. This central bay contains a tall round arch, while each flanking bay has a blind round-arched recessed panel and a six-pane sash window beneath a cambered header-brick arch. Above each arch is a louvred round-arched opening. There is a single-storey range added in the 20th century on the right, which is not of special interest. Inside, the yard features round-arched arcades.
