Description
Kirby's Hotel, along with Nos 5 and 6 East Parade, is a mid-19th century building that stands three storeys high with attics. It features a slate mansard roof and is rendered. The façade has a total of 17 windows arranged in a pattern of 11 on the first floor and 6 on the second. Below the attic windows, there is a heavy moulded cornice. The attic windows and first-floor windows are fitted with double-hung sashes that include glazing bars. The first floor also has a continuous iron balcony supported by full-length standards and decorated with palmettes. There are three doors at the entrance; Nos 5 and 6 have six-panel doors topped with cornices on consoles and are accessed by three steps. The railings surrounding Kirby's Hotel and Nos 5 and 6, along with the Royal Hotel, create a cohesive group.
