Description
This sundial, located approximately 50 metres south of Scampston Hall, dates from the early 19th century. The dial was crafted by Thomas Heath of London and is made of sandstone ashlar, featuring a copper dial and gnomon. It stands about 1.2 metres high on a vase-shaped fluted pedestal that rests on an octagonal base. The pedestal is ornately decorated with acanthus leaves, gadroons, key patterns, and Vitruvian scrolls.
