Description

No 26 on Kirkgate is an 18th-century building that is illustrated in J M W Turner's drawing of Kirkgate, dated 1797, which is held at the British Museum. The building is constructed of colour-washed brick and stands three storeys tall with a parapet. It features a first-floor band that is presumably made of ashlar. The parapet is coped, and the facade has three bays. The first floor has cased sash windows, while the second floor has cased Yorkshire casements, both adorned with keystones. There is an early 20th-century shopfront with fluted pilasters.
