Description

The Village Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed of sandstone, with ashlar and rubble walls, and a roof covered in 20th century clay interlocking tiles. It is two storeys high and originally comprised two bays, with a later addition to the right. The main part of the house is constructed with ashlar, featuring a plinth, rusticated quoins, and sill bands. A 20th century part-glazed door is set within a rusticated quoined surround with a large keystone on the right side of the façade. Four-pane sash windows are found within keyed architraves; there may have previously been another window positioned above the door. The building has shaped kneelers, an ashlar coping, and corniced stacks located at both ends and in the centre. The range to the right is lower and features quoins. A 20th century three-light casement window is located on the ground floor, and a four-pane sash window is set within a flush ashlar surround on the first floor. This section also has a shaped kneeler, ashlar coping, and an end stack of an external chimney to the right. A lean-to addition, of no special interest, extends further to the right. The property was formerly known as Green Farm.
