Description
Cafe Royal is an early to mid 18th century building located on the north side of High Street in Stokesley. It features a roughcast exterior with prominent stone quoins and a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is renewed with pantiles, stone copings, and kneelers, and has end chimneys, with a large stack on the right. The building stands two and a half storeys tall and has four windows, which suggests it may have originally been a double house of a local plan type.
On the second floor, there are low sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor has a later 19th century canted bay window on the left, while the right side retains original sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing. The ground floor features a square projecting shop front on the left, a central door, and another later 19th century canted bay window on the right.
