Description
No 14 is a shop located in Knaresborough's Market Place. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and later. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with a roof that is probably covered in pantiles. It has two storeys and two bays. The central entrance features a glazed door flanked by plate-glass shop windows, all set within a 19th-century surround that includes recessed side panels and a cornice. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane sash windows in flush wood architraves. A brick parapet with a central opening is designed to conceal twin gables on this facade, and there is a brick stack on the left side. Inside, there are extensive remains of the timber-framed structure, including wall posts and roof trusses.
