Description
This is a mid-18th century threshing barn located to the north of Langbaurgh Cottage in Great Ayton. The barn is constructed of coursed squared stone and features a pantiled roof with stone trim. It has three bays and includes opposed central wagon doors. The southern wagon door has a deep segmental arch with raised voussoirs, a key, and impost blocks. The barn's design includes a pattern of vent slits created by the spaces between the stone blocks, as well as two upper loading doors. The stone gable copings and square kneelers add to its architectural detail. At the rear, there are wagon doors of stable type, which are set under an inserted steel lintel. Inside, the barn boasts wide, stout queen-strut roof trusses supported by three levels of purlins.
