Description
The east range of farmbuildings at Scarthingwell Hall Farm dates from the early 18th century, with alterations in the 20th century. Originally constructed as part of a model farm associated with Scarthingwell Hall, the building now includes a section converted into a house. It has a pantile roof, hipped at the south end where a single 20th-century brick stack is located. Quoins are present, and a first-floor ashlar band runs along the facade. The building is two storeys high and consists of nine bays.
The west front has a projecting, three-bay central section featuring three round-arched openings with keystones and impost blocks. Flanking this are symmetrical three-bay sections, each with a central round-arched doorway now blocked by single windows, both incorporating plain ashlar surrounds and keystones. A doorway and 20th-century casement windows are in the southern section. Above, the central section features a blocked semi-circular pitching eye, and to the right, two inserted 20th-century casement windows. Single semi-circular pitching eyes are situated on either side above, the one to the south incorporating stone mullions. Above again, the central section is topped by a large pediment with a circular blocked opening.
