Description

Tanfield House is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of pale brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The roof is covered in pantiles and features an ashlar coping, shaped kneelers, and end stacks. The symmetrical facade has two storeys and three bays. The central entrance features a six-panel door surmounted by an oblong fanlight, all within a doorcase composed of pilasters and an entablature. Windows are 16-pane sashes with stone sills, set within cambered gauged-brick arches. A 20th-century one-bay extension has been added to the left. The group value context of this listing (GV) recognises its contribution to the character of the area.
