Description
The Old Village School, now serving as a village hall, was built in 1847 and features an inscription around the central window that reads, "THIS SCHOOL IS THE GIFT OF MARY CARR 1847 TO HEMINGBROUGH HER NATIVE PARISH." The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond, with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. It has an oblong shape and is a single storey with three bays. The entrance to the extension, added in the late 20th century and of no particular interest, consists of glazed double doors. The school has three round-arched windows, with the central window being larger. All windows have moulded wooden mullions; the outer windows are two-light, while the central window is three-light with Y-tracery. The building features ashlar sills and arches with keystones and imposts, as well as bracketed overhanging eaves and a hipped roof. There are no stacks present.
