Description

This is a row of three houses located on the north side of High Street, Knaresborough, dating from the 17th to 18th centuries, with 20th-century restoration work. The houses are built of coursed squared limestone, with number 132 having a rendered front. The roofs are tiled with pantiles, and have multiple courses of stone slates along the eaves. The houses are arranged as a single storey with attic space, forming three sections. A plinth runs along the base. The front doors are modern glazed doors; all the windows are side-sash windows with 24 panes of glass. Number 128 has a two-light window to the left of the door. Number 130 has a three-light and a two-light window, also to the left of the door, each with 24 panes. Number 132 has two flanking two-light windows with 24 panes each. A projecting band sits below the window lintel level. The eaves line of number 132 is slightly higher than those of numbers 128 and 130. A large rendered stack is situated on the ridge between numbers 128 and 130, with end stacks on number 132. At the rear, short stone wings project at right angles from numbers 130 and 132, which may be original features. A later extension to the rear of number 128 runs parallel to the front elevation. During a recent inspection, original beams and a large fireplace were noted within number 132.
