Description

The sundial shaft in the Garden of Remembrance is a Grade II listed structure, dated 1668. Made of gritstone, it stands approximately 1 metre high and has a square shape at both the top and base. The single block is intricately carved with deep chamfers and bulbous stops. On the top of the south face, there is a rectangular recessed panel featuring the date "1668" in raised letters. This sundial was erected during the vicarage of Francis Little, who also oversaw the rebuilding of the vicarage.
