Description
Nos 15, 17, and 19 on Newby Road are two cottages and a shop dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They are built from coursed rubble and topped with a stone slate roof, standing two storeys tall with large quoins.
No 15 features a double chamfered surround at the ground floor, which is now glazed with a small recent bow window. The first floor has a former 4-light window that is now missing all its mullions. There is a doorway with a cyma surround and an elliptical head, above which is a panel displaying "IHRH" in raised lettering.
No 17 has a double chamfered stone mullion window with two lights at the ground floor and a plain surround for the doorway, which has a modern plank door. The first floor features a 3-light double chamfered stone mullion window. Inside, there is a large elliptical-headed stone fireplace with a cyma surround.
No 19, which serves as the shop, has an unmoulded doorway and shop window, along with a 3-light double chamfered stone mullion window on the first floor.
