Description
Bagby Hall is a house dating from the 16th century or early 17th century, which has been considerably altered. It is constructed of reddish-brown handmade brick in an irregular bond, featuring a brick plinth on the front wall and a string course at the first floor, although this is not continuous throughout. The roof, added around 1980, is covered with cement tiles.
The building has two impressive chimneys typical of the 17th century and is L-shaped with two storeys. The street-facing wing consists of four bays, with the entrance located in the second bay from the left, featuring a door from around 1980. Above the door is a round brick arched opening with modern windows. A window to the right on the first floor has been blocked, and the other windows are also modern.
On the west end wall, there are oval windows of 17th-century style on each floor. The wing that extends at right angles to the street has a heavy chamfered beamed ceiling and an inglenook beam. The street wing also features heavy chamfered ceiling beams with tongued stops and stout joists.
