Description

This is a pedestal and urn located in the grounds of Sheriff Hutton Hall, approximately 40 metres south-east of the house. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of limestone. The pedestal stands about 2 metres high and is octagonal in shape, featuring a plain cornice. It supports an urn that is decorated with rosettes and swags, topped with a ball finial. The pedestal and urn were noted in Gilbert C.'s "Sheriff Hutton Hall" published in 1965 and again in "Sheriff Hutton Hall, Yorkshire" in Country Life in 1966.
