Description

This is a churchyard cross located 10 metres north of the Church of Saint Mary in Thixendale, built around 1874 by the architect G E Street for Sir Tatton Sykes. The cross features a three-stepped octagonal platform, with the upper stage adorned with blind traceried panels. It has a round stepped base that includes a copper plaque commemorating the construction of the church, vicarage, and school from 1868 to 1874. The cross itself has a fluted shaft topped with a cross that features a bird insignia at its center. This structure is included for its group value context.
