Description
West House Farm Cottage is a house dated 1760, built for Simeon Moorhouse. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The cottage has two storeys and three bays, with one room depth and a rear outshut. The building has quoins and a central half-glazed four-panel door, with a lintel inscribed 'Simeon Moorehouse 1760' and jambs that include tie-stones. The flanking and first-floor windows originally had two lights with central mullions, which have been removed in favor of paired four-pane sashes with stone surrounds. On the first floor, there is a narrow round-headed window in the center. The cottage has shaped kneelers, gable coping, and corniced stacks at the center and end right. There are single-storey additions flanking the cottage that are not of special interest.
