Description
The wall of the cascade, located approximately 100 metres north of Ebberston Hall, is a significant feature of the water garden dating from around 1718. It was constructed for William Thompson, who was the Member of Parliament for Scarborough. The wall is made of dressed limestone and stands about 1.25 metres high and 10 metres wide, serving as a dam for the canal situated behind it. The structure is channelled at each end. The gardens of Ebberston Hall, which include this cascade, are listed as grade II* in the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.
