Description
The Grapes Inn is a public house located on the south side of Ebberston High Street. It dates from the late 18th century, although it has earlier origins and has undergone later alterations. The building features a front made of hammer-dressed sandstone, with coursed sandstone rubble on the sides, and a pantile roof with brick stacks. It has a three-cell, hearth-passage plan with a service wing at the rear right. The inn is two stories high and has a four-window front. To the right of the center, there is a 20th-century half-glazed door with an overlight, which is accessed by stone steps. The windows throughout the building are 16-pane sashes with stone sills. The doorway and the ground floor flanking windows have raised keyblock lintels, and there are stacks at the end and to the right of the center.
