Description
A row of simple late 18th century cottages located at 7-15 Kirkgate, featuring 19th and 20th century shop fronts, except for No 13, which retains its original ground floor. The cottages are built from reddish-brown brick made locally and have dentilled eaves. No 13 has a first floor band. The roofs are covered with pantiles and run continuously from No 9 to No 15. The buildings are two storeys high, although No 7 appears to have originally had three storeys, indicated by blank panels above the first floor windows. It may have also had three bays, while the others originally had two bays each. No 13 features a panelled door with a sash window with glazing bars to the right and a later window to the left. No 15 has a late 19th century double-fronted shop with arched lights in the upper part of the windows. The first floor of Nos 9-11 now has six windows. Sash windows are present throughout, with late glazing, except for the left window of No 13, which has glazing bars.
