Description
Yafforth House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Dolly Lane. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 1:3:1 bay configuration, with the end bays being lower and set back from the central block.
A central Roman Doric porch, accessed by three steps, includes a frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The entrance features a six-panel door with a fanlight set in a stone reveal. The ground floor has 16-pane sash windows beneath flat brick arches, while the first floor is marked by a band and has 16-pane sashes in the central block and 8-pane sashes in the side wings, all also with flat brick arches. The building is topped with a cornice and oversailing eaves, and the hipped roofs have end stacks on the central block and right wing.
