Description
Hope Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the late 17th century, with some later alterations and an addition from the late 19th century or later. It is constructed from rubble sandstone and features 20th-century concrete interlocking tile roofs. The building has two storeys and displays a symmetrical arrangement of windows on the first floor, with two windows on each side.
To the left, there is an older section of the house, while to the right, a vertically boarded door is set within a chamfered, quoined, ashlar surround that includes a hoodmould and an inscription "I T" on the lintel. The right side also features 20th-century casement windows with three lights. A rubble stack is located at the left end of the building. The later addition on the right side includes six-pane sash windows with chamfered lintels, raised brick verges, and a brick stack at the right end. On the left return of the building, there is a first-floor single-light window that is chamfered.
