Description

Aldborough Hall is a mansion that likely dates back to the early 17th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, including quoins and mullion windows, and features gables topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two and three storeys. A new entrance has been added to the north following the demolition of a Victorian wing. To the west, there is a three-storey battlemented canted bay with mullion and transom windows. Inside, there is a late medieval four-centred fireplace located in what was formerly a school room. The hall boasts a large Jacobean staircase, originally from Lymore in Montgomeryshire, featuring term-shaped fielded-panelled balusters and larger newels with stepped pyramidal or inverted heart-shaped finials. The dining room includes an Adam fireplace, and there is panelling sourced from Ashley Park in Surrey, along with several other fine imported features such as doors, woodwork, and cornices.
