Description
No. 82 High Street is a shop built in the late 18th century. The building is rendered and has a 20th-century tile roof. It stands three storeys high and has three sections that are approximately six bays wide. The front features two 20th-century shop fronts with plate-glass windows. On the first floor, there are three recessed sash windows with rendered architraves, and the second floor has similar but smaller windows. A sill band runs along the first floor, while the sills on the second floor are supported by small paired brackets. There is a moulded eaves band at the top. The roof is hipped, with a stack located on the left side. The rear of the building suggests it may have originally been a weaving shed or workshop, with access from Whitley Yard. The ornate front likely served as both a shop and accommodation for the owner.
